The morning will begin with a presentation where we will introduce the key principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy and how Kaiako in New Zealand can translate some of these ideas into their own practice.

We will then offer you two workshops incorporating Nature and Technology. Each workshop will run for half an hour and then you can swap over to attend the other one.

Nature and Technology Workshops
Ephemeral Art and Digital Technology –Jacqui Lees
In this workshop will explore the creative potentials of natural materials through Ephemeral Art and look at how we can use digital technology as another language to deepen learning.  For this workshop you will need your phone or tablet, with the You Doodle app installed.

Get the clay out of the cupboard – Karen Wyatt
Often the clay sits deep at the back of the resource cupboard, and kaiako are unsure as to how to approach introducing clay into children’s investigations and what possibilities it offers. This workshop will invite kaiako to engage in a small inquiry-based project of their own as they discuss and discover the possibilities for clay work, and techniques that they can share within the context of the classroom.
