Kerri Walker is an Early Childhood teacher at Play and Learn Early Education centre’s working at both the Papatoetoe and the Clarks Beach centre’s in South Auckland. She has a keen interest in being outside with children and appreciating the playful side of life. Her current interest in teaching is clay and sculpture especially the discovery and beginning journeys as well as children’s early expressions with art mediums. She believes that creativity starts as young as possible with the rich language and playfulness of objects that children desire, she believes if we let children be more playful and do away with the limits we pose because we ourselves are unsure children will have richer experiences in art.
She trained for her Diploma of teaching at MIT and credits a lot of her teaching practice to working with and learning from her colleges. Her interest in creativity comes from rediscovering painting and photography herself and taking children back to the simplicity of colours and shapes all around us.
